Prostate Cancer Surgery

Precision Surgery with the BeamPath™ CO2 Laser

Prostate Cancer surgery, or prostatectomy, is associated with loss of erectile and urinary function, since the nerves that are responsible for these functions lie in close proximity to the prostate. Therefore, this procedure requires a tool that offers the highest degree of precision. OmniGuide®’s BeamPath product line offers a technological breakthrough that enables precise removal of the prostate gland. A recent press release highlights the benefits that technology offers.

What is Prostate Cancer?

Nearly all prostate cancers start in the gland cells, and this kind of cancer is known as adenocarcinoma. Most of the time, Prostate Cancer grows slowly, and is often undetected1. However, more recently, diagnostic tests, such as testing for Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA), and rectal examinations, have increased the diagnosis of prostate cancer.

Surgical Removal of Prostate Cancer

Treatment of prostate cancer may involve active surveillance, surgery, radiation therapy, or cryotherapy. Each patient’s treatment regimen depends on factors such as his/her age, general wellbeing, PSA and Gleason scores, and the extensiveness of the tumor. Surgical removal of the prostate gland remains a front-line therapy in the management of prostate cancer.

OmniGuide has changed the way surgeons operate by coupling the cutting precision and hemostatic effects of the CO2 laser with the flexible BeamPath delivery system, thus enabling minimally invasive access to the diseased gland.

Why OmniGuide BeamPath?

For the first time, surgeons are able to flexibly deliver CO2 laser energy to perform precision minimally invasive surgery in the abdomen. Surgeons use the BeamPath system because it cuts as a precision scalpel and minimizes bleeding while ensuring preservation of surrounding healthy tissue.

The OmniGuide Commitment

OmniGuide is committed to continuously enhancing the quality of care you receive from your surgeon. OmniGuide aims to improve your surgical outcome by offering your surgeon a no-touch, precision microsurgical instrument – the BeamPath flexible CO2 laser scalpel.
